Oculoplastics

Oculoplastics Defined

Oculoplastics refers to surgical procedures designed to improve the function and appearance of the eyelids, skin and muscle tissue surrounding the eye, forehead and face.  Depending on the unique vision needs and aesthetic goals of each patient, our experienced surgeons might recommend a minimally-invasive procedure.

Depending on your age, overall health and several other factors, our experienced oculoplastic surgeons might recommend one or more of the following procedures:

Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is the most common treatment for sagging eyelids that may interfere with your vision. Our surgeons can correct the drooping eyelid(s) by tightening the underlying muscle tissue and removing the excess eyelid skin. In addition to improving vision, blepharoplasty can also greatly rejuvenate the appearance of your eyes.

Brow Lift

Our skilled surgeons often perform brow lift in conjunction with blepharoplasty to further improve the appearance of the upper part of the patient’s face. Brow lift elevates the brow and can smooth the forehead skin. This procedure may become necessary when the weight of excess tissue or weakened muscles cause the eyebrows to droop and obstruct the range of vision. Brow lift is also an effective solution for deep forehead lines and unwanted furrows.

Botox / Juvederm / Restylane

In addition to surgical treatments, our skilled doctors also offer several facial injectables, such as Botox, Juvederm and Restylane. These convenient, effective treatments can smooth fine lines, relax wrinkles and provide subtle, natural-looking aesthetic enhancements.

Fat Grafting

Facial fat grafting is a minor surgical procedure to rejuvenate the face and reverse facial aging for a more youthful appearance. Facial fat grafting utilizes your own fat cells harvested for injectable fat transfer into predetermined areas of the face.

In contrast to a more invasive facelift or less permanent dermal fillers, facial fat transfer is “natural” in that it is the patient’s own fat so there is no risk of rejection. Fat injections act as the natural facial filler to improve facial contours and create significant facial rejuvenation.

Entropion/Ectropion Repair

As we age, the tissue around our eyes relaxes and loosens. This could result in an inward or outward turning eyelid. Eyelids that are not properly positioned can cause irritation, sensitivity and sometimes scarring if not corrected. Our skilled surgeons can perform an outpatient procedure to tighten the eyelid and return it to its normal position.
