Physician Bio:

Prior to joining SouthEast Eye Specialists in 2019, Dr. J.D. Bonner operated a private practice ophthalmology clinic for 20+ years. He received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama prior to completing his four-year ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. Dr. Bonner is currently a member of the American Medical Association, the Christian Ophthalmology Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has previously served as the Clinical Instructor at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga Department of Ophthalmology. Along with practicing comprehensive ophthalmology, Dr. Bonner devotes a large portion of his practice to glaucoma and ocular surface disease management. In his spare time, Dr. Bonner is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking and water sports. He spends time in Uganda providing education to ophthalmologists and surgical eye care to those in need.
