Physician Bio:

Dr. Peterson is the only ophthalmologist in the greater Chattanooga area with a fellowship sub-specialty training in pediatric ophthalmology. He is the area’s leader in anterior segment disease and pediatric cataract surgery with lens implantation. He is also one of the leading cataract surgeons for adults having performed over 30,000 cataract surgeries as of 2013. He is trained in laser assisted cataract surgery and is experienced with premium IOLs which can correct astigmatism and presbyopia. Dr. Peterson also performs strabismus surgery on adults.

A recipient of the Howard Hughes Biological Research and Honors Scholarship while at the University of Utah, Dr. Peterson joined SouthEast Eye Specialists in 2003. He has presented research at the American Pediatric Ophthalmology Association among the North American Neuro-ophthalmology Association. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. In addition, he is a member of the national Pediatric Eye Disease Investigative Group (PEDIG). Dr. Peterson and his wife Charla have two children.
